Juan Yacht Design’s super-computer comprising 328 processors worked 24 hours a day for 7 days to produce the final hull form.

The Juan K trademark is clear on the K650. Like its bigger brothers Pindar (Open 60), Ericsson (Volvo 70) and Virgin Money (99’ maxi), it has the hard chine, lots of volume in the bow, flat bottom sections yet low wetted surface area.

The deep 275 kg keel can be brought up with a simple rope system operated from the cockpit. The draft reduces from 2,3m to 0,6m in a few minutes. A metal ring acts as a safety device if by accident, the keel hits the ground. Specially developed by Juan Yacht Design, the fin profile provides outstanding hydrodynamic flow: the boat is a weapon upwind!

The 2 carbon rudders are accurate and sensitive. The steering system uses the “Ackermann” principle, for example, during a tack, the windward rudder turns more than the leeward one. This system improves boat handling and reduces drag.
